Riddle me this

from time to time i will post a riddle that will be hard to solve

1st riddle:

a farmer has 3 sons and 11 cows.

on a day the farmer desided to leave his home and see the world, by doing so he called upon his sons to take care of his cattle.
He divided the cows in the following way:

the oldest son would get half of the cattle
the middle son would get a quarter of the cattle
the youngest would get on sixth of the cattle

my riddle to u:
how much cattle would each son get?

ill hold the riddle for 1 week after that if it isnt solved ill give the answer

I know. He borrows a cow from someone else, so he has 12.

Oldest = 1/2 = 6

Middle = 1/4 = 3

Youngest = 1/6 = 2.

And there is one left over, which he returns.

though it took some time for 1 to find out

on the other hand my father explained this riddle to me when i was 11
